This -50 error will occur when you don't have a direct connection from the Mac to the MF4570. You mention a connection via USB. Is this a direct USB connection from the printer to the Mac or is there some other device in between? If it is a direct USB connection then maybe the USB cable is at fault. And for the record, the Canon v2.9 drivers from Apple that dsimagry has provided a link to is for Canon inkjets and scanners only.
No laser products are included in the download. And the driver versions you have already do work. I have an MF4580dn and I'm using the UFR2 v2.35 driver from 10.7.4. EduardM wrote: According canon instruction, i used driver Canon iR3570/iR4570 II (US), and had -50 error.
This makes sense. The UFR2 driver will fail if you select the wrong model when creating the printer. So selecting the MF4500 series is the correct solution. EduardM wrote: But scaner not work 😟 I attempt to use PAHU recoomendation, but MF Toolbox crash. With MF Toolbox crashing I don't believe you will be able to get any other application to scan. But you can test this by opening Image Capture to see if you scan. If this fails then you need to fix MF Toolbox and I will need to do some testing to determine the best way to do this.

First of all, to get what you are showing requires that a printer and scanner driver is available.
In your example, you have installed a printer and scanner driver that HP has created and supplied to Apple for download. In your mind you probably feel that you did not install them.
But the reality is that when you connected to this HP OfficeJet Pro 8500, the supporting printer and scanner driver were downloaded from Apple and installed in your Mac. If there is no printer or scanner driver available then you will get nothing.

You cannot print or scan unless a driver is available. The Print & Scan pane is not some magical interface that will let you print and scan without a driver.

And for the Canon MF4570 that the OP has, Canon has not supplied the printer or scanner driver to Apple for download. So, in order to print or scan with the Canon MF series of devices, you must download the latest supporting printer driver and scanner driver from a Canon web site. This is what the OP has done and has managed to get the printer to work. But for some reason the scanner component is not working and that needs to be resolved, but it aint going to work the way you are suggesting. So please, by all means post when you know the answer.
